The Meet Metis Q&A: Kate Sena, account executive

Agent-Kate Sena-104-246828-edited.jpgWhen I started working at Metis in 2013, I just missed the tail end of Kate Sena’s second co-op cycle with the company. It was immediately clear, however, how much the team missed her presence. Kate is as reliable, genuine and straightforward in client meetings and group brainstorms as she is during happy hour. A recent personality quiz that went around the office dubbed her “The Anchor,” an assessment quickly embraced by her managers and colleagues alike. In other words, in any situation, Kate is a person you want on your team.

With this in mind, when I heard the news in early 2016 that Kate was moving back to Boston from New York and had accepted a position at Metis, I couldn’t wait to finally get to know her. Below is your chance to do the same.

What's one thing you love about Metis?

The people. It can be rare at other companies for co-workers to actually want to hang out together, but we do. Even on the weekend.

What were you up to before you came to Metis?

I was living in New York, commuting to Manhattan and working at an e-commerce company. I had a five-hour round-trip commute and made a few "train friends." My nighttime conductor gave me flowers on my last day.

What’s your favorite Metis benefit?

The ability to work from home. It allows me to travel back home to New York more and see my family.

What's one thing you've learned since starting at Metis?

Don't stress. Our team is full of smart and resourceful people. If I don't know the answer to something, someone else will. Just ASK.

Do you have a favorite holiday?

I love Christmas. I actually just marked on my calendar the day by which I absolutely need to have a Christmas tree (Saturday, December 3). I love Christmas movies, music, baking and shopping for gifts. I'm Italian, so Christmas Eve is really big for us. We spend the morning as a family preparing a ton of fish. It's great.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I studied opera for 10 years before I went to college and performed in the New York State Women's Chorus. It has been a while, but I hope I could still carry a tune.

What TV show do you binge watch?

I re-watched Gilmore Girls this fall to prepare for the new episodes recently released on Netflix. The fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut is my idea of a perfect place. Apply to a career at Metis.
