How to pull off a great media interview

A good source is better than gold to a reporter, and earning the reputation for being such a source can be a huge boon to a company’s PR and marketing efforts. Before your executives speak to the media, make sure they’re trained in the art of giving a great interview.
That means they should not only understand the reporters to whom they’re speaking and what their readers want, but also why:

  • Honesty is the first virtue in media relations;
  • Consistent messaging matters;
  • Jargon is a big no-no;
  • There’s no such thing as “off the record;” and
  • Lots more
