We’ve been getting our fitness on with the new “Metis in Motion” initiative led by our favorite personal trainer, R. Sully. Let’s be honest; sitting at a desk for eight to 10 hours a day isn’t doing wonders for any office worker’s health. Studies have shown just how harmful that can be.
R. Sully (more formally known as Bob Sullivan) recognizes this and has developed a comprehensive corporate fitness program. So instead of creating a makeshift solution like this, a la Dwight Schrute, employees get a customized workout destined for success. Having a set time to unplug and leave your desk is a great motivator to make your exercise plans a priority. Plus, knowing that all your coworkers are attending means you’re much less likely to skip out on your workout – the power of team motivation.

Beyond getting fit, a group exercise program is a great way to bond with coworkers and create new experiences. Exercise benefits extend to your job performance, as well. By reducing stress and increasing energy, your productivity will remain high throughout the day. With all the endorphins released during exercise, you’ll be better able to handle the stresses of work.
In the words of R. Sully, “In order to succeed, you need to fatigue.” There’s no easy way to get fit (no matter what those infomercials tell you), but the pay-off is well worth the hard work. Pretty soon, the Metis team will be the most fit communications agency in town.
Is fitness part of your daily routine? How do you combat the effects of sitting at a desk?
