Metis polled 50 people through online forums and contacts to find out what the industry is currently doing to take that weight of stress off their shoulders and enjoy life more!

Here are some of the most interesting responses:

  • Listen to gospel music. And make a strong effort to leave work “at” work!
  • Massages — twice a month. Gets the kinks out of the neck and back from being on a computer all day. They’re a necessity, not a luxury!
  • Listen to the Bible and music on my iPod, walk outside, read books and spend time with fun people. (This because most of my time is spent with NOT fun people…)
  • I confess, TV in the evening. NCIS, The Closer, mostly other detective shows that have more comedy than gore, but sometimes gore is good, too.
  • Reciting 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer under my breath when awake and tense at 3 a.m. “Psalm 23 is the Lord is my shepherd…” “Psalm 23 is the Lord is my shepherd…”
  • If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Then, you have to find someone whose life has given them vodka. Me? I just say, “I #$@&ing *LOVE* lemons!! What else you got!?!
  • Legal narcotics
  • Booze, b%*ching and shopping
  • What about positive affirmations, like Stewart Smalley? “I’m good enough, smart enough and gosh darn it, people like me.”
  • Embark on a Gordon Ramsay-esque tirade riddled with four letter words. Works a treat.
  • Visiting websites that make you feel better about yourself and your life: Fmylife.com
  • Pour a glass or two or three of wine and settle into a good ole’ fashion episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos.
  • And a favorite here at Metis Communications…Beers and mozzarella sticks at JJ Foley’s.
